One Million Hours Of Joy
Last year through my husband’s blog, we were invited as a family to take part in the Reima Kidventure challenge. I can remember when Paul received the brief, we chatted about how perfect it was for our family.
We love being active, getting outdoors and encouraging other families to do the same. The Reima video that was made to promote the Kidventure Million Hours of Joy Challenge was awesome. Kids having so much fun in the snow. Winter shouldn’t be about hibernating, even though I’m all about a bit of hygge time. It should be about wrapping up warm and heading on out to enjoy those cold, crisp days that fill you with much needed fresh air. I’m stuck at a desk right now wishing I could do just that!
We decided we wanted to make our own version of the Reima video and try to capture our kids while they were having fun outdoors. I’m sure you’ll agree, we captured some amazing moments!
And this is our normal life. We have an energetic Hungarian Vizsla and two kids who play so much better together outdoors than when they’re fighting over an iPad indoors. Every weekend we like to go on at least one adventure somewhere, whether it’s a beach to collect sea glass or the countryside to jump in muddy puddles, you’ll usually find us out and about. If you struggle to engage your kids during walks why not try one of the Father Fitness activity sheets.
In January we were delighted to be told we had been selected as the family to represent the UK for the Kidventure Million Hours of Joy Challenge. To celebrate children achieving over one million active hours across the world we would be heading to Finnish Lapland for a week of activities in the snow. Oh. My. Goodness. To say we were a happy family is an understatement. The kids are so excited and are literally counting down the days until we go. The activities include sledging, husky rides, reindeer feeding, a visit to Santa’s cottage (how exciting!), ice fishing, snowmobiling, snow sculpting and a slope day. Wow! Other than a couple of days recently where we got enough snow to go sledging, we’ve never participated in any winter sports so we’re really looking forward to trying it all out.
If you want to read more about the challenge you can read my hubby’s post here and be sure to check back for an update of how our trip goes! We’ve bought a GoPro too so hoping to get some great action footage.
