Do The Unthinkable
I was delighted to be trying out a brand new programme from the UK’s fastest growing online foods brand, Muscle Food.
Do The Unthinkable is a diet and exercise plan. Choose from four goals – Lose weight, lean muscle, slim & toned and get ripped. Perform their exercises from a DVD and eat their meals specifically chosen to reach your goal.
The Pack
The pack comes with a wall chart. I love wall charts! They are great for motivation and this one records each phase and also has a measurement tracker. A DVD is included of bodyweight exercises by a qualified PT. These were great because no equipment is needed, you just need some space and your body. No gym fees necessary. Obviously these workouts are challenging! I had to work as hard as I could and I was definitely put out of my comfort zone. Finally, there’s a great little folder of recipe guides. These are great if you want to get creative in the kitchen like me!
The next stage is selecting your meals. Chose from five days (£2 per meal), six days (£1.91 per meal) and seven days (£1.88 per meal). You can expect breakfast, dinner, lunch, snacks and plenty of extras. Once you’ve chosen your goal, the programme will automatically select recommended options. If you don’t like what’s been selected, simply choose something else nearby.
The Food
Paul and I sampled a real variety of foods. This is important when you’re selecting your meals (should you decide to try the unthinkable) so you don’t get bored of eating the same thing. It’s also hugely important that your daily intake includes a variety of vitamins and minerals. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of ‘ready made’ meals so I was going to find this more interesting than Paul, who would eat anything, ha.
Breakfasts included some lovely little porridge pots and bars such as flapjacks and protein cookies. I managed to sample one before Paul ate them all. You can expect three snacks per day including things like protein popcorn, protein balls and chicken on a stick. All delicious! Lunches include boxed meals such as chow mein, black bean and lasagna (pictured above). A few minutes in the microwave, a quick stir and these were ready to eat. The lasagna was quite nice and the other rice dishes were also quite tasty.
Dinners were meal packs where you were supplied the ingredients and all you had to do was cook it. Some of you may prefer the more convenient boxed meals I mentioned for lunch but I personally found the dinners much more flavoursome. Cook the meat, add in the vegatables and then the spices and you’re done. We tried various stir fry meals and they were really tasty. Paul was disappointed with one meal though when he opened the spice packet and it was empty! He added his own spices in though and saved the meal, ha! He did also mention the red onions in some of the meals were quite overpowering. A case of what you like and don’t I suppose so just adjust it accordingly.
Our favourite meal was this protein pizza. How good does this look! I was telling Paul to hurry up with the pictures so I could tuck in, ha! It really was delicious and we can both highly recommend this as an option.
I really enjoyed taking part in the ‘Do The Unthinkable’ programme. As I’m currently maintaining my weight, I don’t have any results to share but we both found the exercise DVD to be really good and the majority of the meals were convenient and tasty. I felt full throughout each day so the portions were obviously well selected. The range of different snacks also contributed to any gaps of hunger. If you lead busy lives and are looking for an all-in-one fitness programme, this could be for you.
